Notes from Feb. 3, 2014 meeting

By Paul Mallie, President

Below is an update on fund raiser and projects that we need people to accept responsibility to organize and/or volunteer to work at the events.  We have some great ideas, however we only want to commit to projects that we can successfully accomplish.

We will be needing volunteer assistance for the Fairfax Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 12th.  More information will be provided at our March meeting.  There are numerous local groups involved with this “1st Annual Easter Egg Hunt”.  Your assistance will help make this a successful event for all.

Paul and Jason will lead the planning of “Punt, Pass and Kick” (and maybe other events to be included) at the Fairfax USA days.  Planning will begin within the month.  Volunteers will be needed for this event.  I believe this could be both a fund raiser and a great activity for the youth during USA days.

Ed discussed more options regarding participating at the Farmer’s Market.  We could sell any items that are home made or grown.  Discussion involved suggestions of “Homemade Ice Cream”.  This would involve a commitment of time for six weeks or longer if we choose.

Terry will contact Jerry and Connie Inman regarding Kidsight eye screening as they apparently have dates scheduled in the area that we may be able to assist.  Volunteers will be needed.

We will be ordering official Lions Club eye glass collection boxes to be placed at common gathering areas within the local area.  If you know of any businesses or gathering locations that would accommodate these collection boxes, please let us know.

Other fund raising ideas and projects were discussed but no action taken.
